Planxty Lord Inchiquin

A  lovely tune which is fairly straightforward, Apparently this tune was composed in the honour of the fourth Earl of Inchiquin.

The format is different from the usual 8 bars repeated. There are 16 bars in the first section and 24in the second part
I haven't put any ornaments in the score as I am too lazy! anyway it would clutter it up.  The tune is played  with some cuts and triplets which fall off the fingers quite easily. There is some finger vibrato on the long G notes.  Rolls and such-like have been avoided as I don't personally think the tune needs these.

Turlough O' Carolan was influenced by some of the Baroque composers a lot of his tunes have this flavour. On bar 16 of the second section there is a pause on the top (A) note, this is called "rubato" in musical terms and is just a stretching of the bar to give accent to the end of a phrase and a spring-board to the next phrase.

Played on a C whistle.
